THE EXPERTS say that this winter is going to be mild and dry, so that’s an improvement on the summer!
Your lawn should now be slowing its growth down, giving you time to tackle the other jobs in the garden; if you get a chance, treat your lawn with Autumn lawn care treatment. It’s a good time to lay a new lawn with turf or to repair any patches of grass that are suffering.
You should have started planting your spring bulbs by now, and you may have started planting your winter flowering bedding plants such as winter pansies.
Now is the time to wash your seed trays and pots with warm soapy water and a little garden disinfectant to help destroy fungus spores, also clean your pond pump, your barbecue and your garden furniture for storage over the winter months.
Begin transferring your half-hardy plants into the greenhouse or conservatory before we have the first frost.
Begin your winter digging and incorporate some well-rotted manure into the soil, especially on the vegetable patch.
I hope that this will keep you busy over the next couple of weeks.
