by Alan Mayer
There was no screaming spectacle here,
There was nothing for a thrillseeker,
There were trees and water
There were geese and swans
I felt a quiet joy
As I walked round Westport Lake
No fear
Sky clear
Joggers, children playing
People out walking their dogs
In a moment of contemplation,
I thought, this is available
Everyday,
For free.
Thank you
Stoke-on-Trent council.
